Three More Welcome Points Take Blues Out of Bottom Four

Look’s like we just got finished in time. Hope all fans got home safely last night to celebrate this latest win!

A hard fought second half  where our defensive resolve was severely tested, enabled Wycombe to take three valuable points with a 2-1 victory at home to Tranmere, on a day when their rivals either lost or didnt play.

As a result Wanderers move up to 20th position, just above that dreaded drop line. They had to recover from going one down in the 6th minute when McQuirk scored with an angled drive from all of 30 yards out. The home side took a while to get going after that but levelled midway through the half when skipper Gareth Ainsworth skipped past his man and crossed for debutant loanee Matty Whichelow to head home. Seven minutes later the Blues were ahead and this time Gaz got the final touch to score after Whichelow and Matt Bloomfield had their efforts blocked.

However after the break and with the wintry weather closing in, it was Tranmere who seemed to have all the possession with Wycombe struggling to get it clear of their goal. Twice the visitors hit the woodwork and near the end had a goal ruled out for offside. Matt Bloomfield had a good chance on a rare Blues attack but was foiled by the goalie.

Maybe we just got some of that luck that Gary Waddock was talking about last Wednesday!
