Statement issued by Steve Hayes
The owner of Wycombe Wanderers and London Wasps has today issued a statement that he is seeking new owners for the the rugby club.

The WW Trust response is as follows:
After a period of time when intentions were unclear, the Wycombe Wanderers Trust notes, with interest, the announcement made by Steve Hayes in respect of his intention to seek a buyer for London Wasps and his commitment to Wycombe Wanderers for the foreseeable future.
The announcement is clearly much more related to Wasps at this stage and as such a purchase price for London Wasps is not something that interests or concerns the Trust. We would agree that careful consideration of the dis-entanglement of the previously merged administration must be covered in any discussions with any prospective buyer and we will ensure this isssue is tackled sensibly and clearly once any buyer is identified and discussions progressed. This process should help clarify the true costs of running WWFC as a single entity.
The Trust looks forward to continuing to work with Steve Hayes and his management team to ensure the long term security of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club.
Steve mentioned that he would consider offers for our club. Has the Trust discussed that with him and do you know what that ‘price’ would be? (obviously not asking for the detail here – just wondered if the Trust have the details?)
Also, are plans being drawn up to ‘disengage’ the two clubs’ administration? Thks.
Don Woodward who sits on the WWFC Board as one of the two Trust appointed Directors replies: “In answer to your post Joe, Steve Hayes made the announcement public just today, the announcement is much more related to Wasps at this stage and as such that price is not something that interests or concerns the Trust. We would agree that careful consideration of the dis-entanglement of the previously merged administration must be covered in any discussions with any prospective buyer – and we will ensure this issue is tackled sensibly and clearly once any buyer is identified and discussions progressed. This process should help clarify the true costs of running WWFC as a single entity, but we are a long way from that today.”
This is the comment that prompted my question – regarding WWFC, not London Wasps : “… if approaches are made to me for the club (WWFC) then these would be considered carefully…”
Have the Trust discussed what price SH would want for the club?
Not as yet. We are open to holding any discussions with Steve Hayes on his plans at any time.
Just wondering if these discussions have been held in the past 3 months? What can the Trust disclose of his plans? Thanks
As yet the Trust has not formally met with Steve Hayes since his announcement.
We have no further information than is already in the public domain on his plans to sell Wasps.
Our concern remains the future of Wycombe Wanderers with or without Wasps remaining as a tenant of Adams Park.
The Trust Board is meeting next week and will consider its next approach to the owner.
Back to my original question of October 5, if that is ok? Have the Trust discussed a price for the football club with Steve Hayes? If so, are they seeking more than one way of buying the club from SH? Thanks. wj
Joe.
In any business dealings there are often matters that are subject to confidentiality agreements.
The Trust will notify its members if and when we have anything to announce.
We continue to seek to protect the long term interests of this Club.
Alan
Mr C, that’s ok as long as the Trust don’t come back saying “Mr Beeks’ offer was the best deal for the club”. That would be a travesty. The Trust should be looking wider than collaborators for support at this time. If they haven’t explored other options then there will be massive opposition, perhaps terminally, for the Trust.
Thanks, wj
