Report on Trust meeting with WDC
Review of Trust Meeting with Wycombe District CouncilTrust Chairman, Trevor Stroud and his Vice Chairman, Garry Heath met with the new leader of Wycombe District Council, Alex Collingwood, his two deputies David Carroll and Arif Hussain, CEO Karen Satterford, and communications team leader, Catherine Spalton, on Wednesday 6th July.
At the meeting, a presentation was made, that gave a brief history of WWFC from formation until the present day, with particular emphasis on the recent past including the change from a members club to a PLC and the accompanying enshrined rights, the financial performance from this point and the change of ownership two years ago.
We then summarised the current position, including the formal Trust position as voted on by members, and that the Trust are particularly concerned with WWFC and its future, rather than the location of the stadium, as well as our legal advice that the plan as it stands would have to be approved by Founder Shareholders.
Finally we listed our concerns, which we sub-divided into practical, financial and governance.
During and following the presentation, there were in depth discussions on a number of the points raised, including the assumptions regarding the WSDL plan, such as away support, and what if scenarios if the plan did not go-ahead.
The meeting was very positive, and we are totally confident that the new leadership understand the Trust’s positions and concerns.
There is a Council Cabinet meeting on Monday 18th July, where the Sporting Village project will be discussed, a link to the agenda is available here.
