The Role of the Trust
Given all that is going on, both on and off the pitch, it might be useful to remind members and fans of the purpose and plans of the Wycombe Wanderers Trust.
As it says at the top of this page, the Trust is “the link to your club” and we see this as a vital role to fulfil at all times.
Our rules define the purpose of the Trust as being “to represent the views of supporters and protect the long term interest of the Club. This includes safeguarding the ‘enshrined rights’ of the Trust and the right to Trust representation on the Club board.”
It is difficult for us to report here the defined view of the Trust Board or indeed of the membership. The board is made up of 11 members (all volunteers) who all have the best interests of the team and the football club at heart and who give their time up to carry out those duties, acting within the Powers defined in our Rules. Whilst we are all in regular (usually electronic) contact , it is difficult to canvass every director’s views on any issue in order to get a Board stance either unanimous or majority based and, believe me, the Board is made up of people with different views on some issues.
Similarly our membership of over 400 will all have their own opinion and that too is respected. Many fans choose to have their opinion, often unanimously in another forum and we respect that. However we as the merged Supporters and Founders Trust are always keen to hear from any member of their concerns , issues etc so that we can collate and present them to the club at one of our varied contact meetings. The more members the Trust represents, the stronger our viewpoint becomes.
Our current “business plan” is based around our defined purpose (as above) and split out into five key objectives:
- To maintain communication
- To build our influence within the Club
- To monitor and react to developments within the Club
- To overhaul and maintain membership administration
- To actively recruit new members
As stated, these objectives are interlinked towards meeting our goal. We particularly aim to be ready to respond to any developments within the Club and note with interest the impending sale of Wasps RFC and how this will affect Wycombe Wanderers.
