It’s Getting Better……
The press will show that as on Saturday, Wycombe Wanderers lost 0-3 tonight, this time to a star-studded QPR whose scorers were Jamie Mackie, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Nedum Onouha.
However, as against Fulham it was only in the last few minutes that the final two goals went in, leading to another hugely competitive and pacy ’friendly’ game. It was half an hour before Mackie scored after skillful work by Adel Taarabt. On 70 minutes Wright-Phillips showed good skill in the box to beat two defenders and the goalie with Onouha heading home from a corner just before the end.
For the home team, there were notable performances from Doherty and Stewart in defence, Grant, Bloomfield and Spring in midfield but as before, up front we were unable to produce much against a Premier League quality defence. As always Nikki Bull made some fine saves and there was time for Matt Ingram to make a flying touch over in his 10 minutes of match time. Good to see youngsters Charles Dunne, Anthony Stewart and Lee Angol getting more match time and a brief appearance from Kortney Hause.
Off the field, further improvements were seen and appreciated by fans:
- once again the cash turnstile was in operation for the terrace, though again this area was thinly populated
- Rebellion IPA went down well in the bars as a guest ale
- A ‘kids-bar’ was opened in the Vere Suite for soft drinks and sweets
- The new range of pre and post-match music added to the pleasant atmosphere
We are well aware that there is still much to do. The long queue at half time for the tea and food bar is not acceptable and efforts to improve this service are already in hand.
As the new owners, the Trust are determined to do all they can to improve the match day experience at Adams Park for all fans but we do ask for your patience and support as certain changes will take time.
