Jonathan Saunders passes away

In what has become a difficult week for Wycombe fans in a number of ways, sad news is reaching us tonight of the passing away of 24 year old supporter Jonathan Saunders.

Jonathan (“Jonny”) who had been fighting off illness for some time, was a Chairboys Gasroom contributor under the name of ‘My Only Wycombe’ , a regular and passionate supporter at Adams Park and who was able to get to some away games on the Independents’ coach. He was a news reporter in the Hemel Hempstead/Tring area and had only last month moved into a house with his new wife Adella.

On behalf of all Wycombe fans and everyone at the Club, we send our sincere condolences to Adella, to his parents, family and friends.

Many fond tributes have been posted on the Chairboys Gasroom and on Twitter from those who knew this young man, taken from us far too soon.

Jonny, who was a member of the WW Trust, is pictured above in a typically enthusiastic moment at Port Vale in April 2009 (picture courtesy of Paul Dennis).

Courtesy of the Gasroom is the following message from Jonny’s father: “The funeral will be held on Monday 17th September 2012 at 11.30am at Tring Parish Church and then the Cemetary (family only). All are welcome to the service – WWFC flag likely (certain) to be on the coffin.
Dress code – Jonathan and I spoke a few weeks ago and he thought it would be marvellous if you could attend as though you were going to a match – t-shirt, jeans and off course the wwfc shirt.
Many thanks to you all – I continue to be amazed at how many lives he touched in such a short period of time. The gasroom should be proud of itself today.”
