3 Goals and 3 Points give Everyone a Lift
Could this be the start of the recovery?
Whilst Rochdale were certainly not the best side we have faced this season, that should take nothing away from a much improved Wanderers performance today which resulted in a 3-0 home win.
The star of the show was Stuart Beavon who as usual was his tigerish self, never giving up and it was chasing a flick on, that led to him lifting the ball over the goalkeeper for the opening goal after 32 minutes.
New boy Louis Laing settled in well at the back alongside skpper Dave Winfield and it was the recalled and fit again leader who headed the ball across the penalty area to Beavon for the second goal on 73 minutes. However the way in which our leading goal scorer pulled the ball down and hooked it into the net is certainly to be admired.
Two minutes later and Winfield turned from provider to goal scorer after a Matt Bloomfield corner kick evaded everyone and fell to ‘big Dave‘ close to goal. He even had time to control the ball before flicking it into the net.
So three points won on a day when most of our lowly rivals drew, lifts us closer to the safety line as we move onto the short trip to Brentford next Saturday.
