RHINO SIGNS UP: TRUST APPOINTS KEITH AS VICE-PRESIDENT
Wycombe Wanderers Trust is delighted to announce that Wanderers legend Keith Ryan will be an Honorary Vice-President. Trust Vice-Chair Francis Glenister welcomed the appointment saying:“We want Vice-Presidents who are as passionate about Wycombe Wanderers as our members and we are absolutely delighted that Rhino has joined us. As a player and coach, his commitment to Wycombe Wanderers was plain to see and, as a result, he earned huge respect from the fans. We are delighted that he has accepted the invitation to join us and we hope that many supporters will follow him into membership.” Keith played 517 games for Wanderers over 17 years. He became Club captain and was a vital part of the team during a period of unprecedented success. During his playing career the Chairboys won two FA Trophies, the Conference title and a play-off final to establish themselves in the third tier of the football league. They also reached the FA Cup Semi-Final, where Keith scored Wanderers goal against Liverpool. He had a brief stint as player-manager when Tony Adams left, before joining the Wanderers management team under John Gorman. Now youth team coach at QPR, Keith said:
"I am proud of my association with Wanderers as player, as captain and as part of the management team. I am proud to be Vice-President of the new Trust. I still have a great relationship with the Wanderers supporters and I think that the Trust's role both in representing those fans and in protecting the heritage of the Club is really valuable. I am delighted to be involved with the Trust." Keith’s appointment follows that of Karen Adams as Honorary President. A second exciting Vice-President appointment will follow shortly. KAREN ADAMS FOR PRESIDENT: TRUST MAKES FIRST SIGNING
Karen Adams, granddaughter of Wanderers benefactor Frank Adams, will be Honorary President of the new Wycombe Wanderers Trust. Karen’s grandfather was player, captain and administrator with the Chairboys before giving Loakes Park to Wanderers in 1947. He held key administrative positions in the Club and the FA. After Frank’s death in 1981 his son, Karen’s father Jack, played a key role in the negotiations to build the new ground in Sands, fittingly to be called Adams Park. Speaking about her decision to take on the Trust Presidency, Karen said:“I am very happy to take this role on because of my family’s long and proud association with Wycombe Wanderers, in playing and administration and in gifting Loakes Park to the Club. I want to do the best for the Trust as it seeks to preserve and build on the Club’s proud history.” David McGee, Chair of the Trust said:
“A key aim of the Trust is to preserve the heritage of the football club and this appointment signals how seriously we take that responsibility. There is no family more closely connected with Wanderers’ great history than Karen’s. When her grandfather gave Loakes Park to the Football Club in 1947 he placed it in an enviable position from which it could forge a name for itself in non-league, and now league, football. She was keen to be involved and we are absolutely delighted that she has taken up the invitation to be our President.” The Trust will make more exciting announcements, about the appointment of Vice-Presidents, in the coming days.

Trusts Combine to Create a New Body for Chairboys Fans
Wycombe Wanderers Trust has been created to simplify fan representation on the Wycombe Wanderers PLC Board. It has been formed by merging the WW Supporters Trust and the WW Founders Trust into a single body, which will elect two fan directors onto the Club Board. David McGee, Chair of the new Trust, said “A single trust removes confusion and gives supporters a real voice at the decision-making heart of the Club. The strength of that voice will be determined by the number of Trust members. We are starting out with the combined membership of the two Trusts, but want to increase this to ensure the fans’ voice is heard loud and clear.” “The Club is going to be making some huge decisions in the coming few years and supporters will want to be fully informed and consulted – a role that the Trust will fulfil. The new Trust has inherited all the assets, rights and privileges of its parents including the two elected directors on the Club Board and a vital say in the future of the Club. I urge committed Wanderers fans to join us.” Wycombe Wanderers Trust will be launched at the home game against Luton on Saturday 13th December, where supporters can join up. More information and membership forms can be found on the Trust's website.Notes to editors: The newly formed trust will have the right to elect two directors to the Wycombe Wanderers Football Club PLC board. In addition, the new Trust is the custodian of any of the original 500 Founder Shares which have lapsed. Through its holding of Founder Shares, the Trust will influence the outcome of any proposed changes to the so-called “enshrined rights” which include the sale of Adams Park and the restriction on any one person holding more than 25% of the Club’s shares. In addition to the significance of membership outlined above, all members will be entered into a regular draw for a “WWFC experience”. The first draw will take place on Saturday 27th December, where the prize will be a signed Scott Shearer shirt, to be presented at a home game during January. All supporters, who join the Trust before 27th December, will be entered into the draw. Membership forms will be available from the Commercial Office and Club Shops.

David Roberton
I was born in Wycombe, went to school in Wycombe and have been a "Blues" supporter for as long as I can remember. I even played a few games at Loakes Park. An early memory of being a "Blues" fan was the FA Amateur Cup Semi Final in 1957 when the "Blues" beat Corinthian Casuals 3-1 at Highbury (unfortunately my dad would not take me to Wembley for the final because I would not have been able to see over peoples heads in the old standing section).
My reason for joining the Trust was to help try and ensure that my team survive and continue to play at a high level of football and do not go the way of Ilford, Leytonstone, Wealdstone and others whose assets were somehow lost and their football heritage and place in the community consigned to the history books. I am very proud of my Club and want to ensure that my grandchildren can wear the blue quarters with pride whilst supporting their professional team in the safe, enjoyable and friendly environment that we had at both Loakes Park and now Adams Park. posted in trust-appointed-club-directors | 10.12.2008. 23:42 |
WYCOMBE WANDERERS TRUST: WHAT IS IT FOR?
Why Wycombe Wanderers Trust?Wycombe Wanderers Trust has been formed from its two predecessors - the Founders Trust and the Supporters Trust. Whilst the two had been working closely together, the merger helps to overcome a number of problems. Supporter representation to the Club was fragmented. There was confusion among Wanderers fans about the roles and responsibilities of the two Trusts. There was twice the call on the time of those willing to work for the Trusts. And there was a lot of overlap in the membership, with members of both required to pay two fees and the Trusts having to bear the costs of two lots of administration. Building on our strengths There is no impact from the merger on the key strengths of the individual Trusts. Wycombe Wanderers Trust retains both seats on the Football Club Board and the Supporters Trust’s £100,000 shareholding. It will continue to have the same say in the safeguarding of the Club’s heritage as the Founders Trust. But crucially, it will also provide a single voice and a more efficient use of supporters’ time and money. Increasing involvement Wycombe Wanderers Trust aims to:
- represent supporters’ interests in the Club through two Directors elected to the Club Board
- continue to protect the Club’s heritage
- increase membership and involvement
- provide a clear point of supporter contact for the PLC
- enhance community involvement with the Club
- improve communication with supporters
- be inclusive and affordable to all Our short-term aims are to increase the Trust membership from the current 365 Chairboys fans and to advise our members on the current developments over the Club finances, the new ground and the 25% shareholding threshold. Membership is only £10 (less for concessions). Join up here.
